I am in active and collaborative therapist. My goal is to build safe and trusting relationships with my clients so they may freely work toward building awareness and finding more happy moments. I use a combination of Humanistic Psychology and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. My office is a warm and comfortable environment where I listen and guide clients on their path to self-discovery.
Humanists believe it is all parts of our experience that make us who we are. Our family, society, culture, ethnicity, and all of our meaningful relationships shape who we've become. We learn to navigate our worlds based on those early experiences and what we want to protect. In therapy, my clients tell their side of the story. My job is to listen, to really hear you and your needs within your story. To help you identifying patterns that both help, and hinder your progress. And with this greater sense of awareness, you can begin to navigate toward more deep and meaningful connections with your partners, family and friends.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
Mindfulness is helpful in decreasing symptoms of anxiety and depression by assisting clients in identifying triggers and managing responses. When triggered, we react. It's a combination of our thoughts and feelings that causes the reaction. Mindfulness helps us to be aware of our emotional state when triggered. At the core, this technique asks clients to not judge their feelings, but rather to accept they have the feelings. And when we are more cognizant and accepting of these feelings, we have more control over actions and behaviors.
